Douglas & Gordon Ltd, the London estate agency that entered administration in 2023, is set to be dissolved three years after its collapse, according to Companies House records.

The original company’s sales division was purchased by CEO James Evans for £515,000 less than a week after administration began, through a new enterprise called Brewham Holdings Ltd. Evans subsequently established a new company operating under the Douglas & Gordon name.

Background to administration

The sales division of Douglas & Gordon Ltd had been separated from the more profitable lettings business when previous owner Foxtons sold it to Evans in January 2022. The sales operation entered administration in 2023, resulting in 50 redundancies from the sales team, with only 15 staff initially retained.

Financial position

A 2024 report from administrators Grant Thornton revealed the extent of the company’s financial difficulties. The report identified 154 unsecured creditors, excluding employees, who made claims totalling more than £1 million. HMRC was owed £581,000, though the report did not clarify how much of that liability would be settled.

The administration period had been extended for one year until 23 February 2026, according to official records.

Current operations

The reconstituted Douglas & Gordon now operates as a London estate agency offering sales and lettings services, with its head office located in Chelsea. The company’s website references 68 years of trading history dating back to 1958, covering Central, West, and South West London.

The winding up of Douglas & Gordon Ltd marks the formal conclusion of the administration process, three years after the original company’s financial difficulties forced it into administration.
